How to Draw 'Nzeppel, Step by Step
'Nzeppel turns a grid into cobblestones: each grid cell gets a rounded pebble shape, and the gaps between the pebbles are filled black.
Step 1 of 3
Draw a light grid across the area.
Watch it draw stroke by stroke, pause on any step, then try it yourself on paper.
'Nzeppel step by step
- Step 1
Draw a light grid across the area.
- Step 2
In each cell, draw a rounded shape that almost touches the grid lines.
- Step 3
Fill the narrow gaps between the shapes with black.
Tips for a neat 'Nzeppel
- Let the pebbles be a little irregular; perfect rounded squares look mechanical.
- Keep the gaps narrow and even so the black reads as grout.
- Rotate the grid or use a diagonal grid for a different feel.
Variations to try
- Draw the grid on a diagonal so the pebbles become triangles.
- Shade each pebble on one side for a raised look.
