How to Draw Knightsbridge, Step by Step
Knightsbridge is a checkerboard: a simple grid with every other square filled black. It is the easiest grid tangle and a good way to practise steady straight lines.
Step 1 of 3
Draw evenly spaced lines in one direction across the section.
Watch it draw stroke by stroke, pause on any step, then try it yourself on paper.
Knightsbridge step by step
- Step 1
Draw evenly spaced lines in one direction across the section.
- Step 2
Cross them with evenly spaced lines in the other direction to make a grid.
- Step 3
Fill every other square with black, like a checkerboard.
Tips for a neat Knightsbridge
- Lightly mark the spacing with pencil dots along the edges before drawing the lines.
- Lines do not have to be perfectly straight; a gentle wobble still reads as a checkerboard.
- Fill one diagonal row at a time so you do not lose track of the pattern.
Variations to try
- Draw the grid lines curved to make a warped checkerboard.
- Fill the white squares with a tiny dot or a smaller square.
