How to Draw Bales, Step by Step
Bales starts as a diagonal grid; then every grid segment gets a pair of curves bowing out on both sides, so each cell becomes a puffy pillow, like stacked hay bales. Small black diamonds sit at the crossings.
Step 1 of 4
Draw evenly spaced diagonal lines in one direction.
Watch it draw stroke by stroke, pause on any step, then try it yourself on paper.

Tips for a neat Bales
- Keep the curves shallow; deep curves crowd the cell.
- Work one diagonal row at a time so you do not miss segments.
- Make the black diamonds small and all the same size.
Variations to try
- Add a short line in the middle of each pillow.
- Leave out the grid lines and keep only the curves.
